Why Fannuvaru?
When we look at the current situation in music education in the Maldives, we know that there are only a few schools that take music classes. Also, there are only a few schools with school bands, and only a few schools have an instructor. Fannuvaru program opens access to music education through online and face to face classes, providing students to learn and perform in various sets.
Early access to music education.
Starting music tuition at an early stage offers numerous benefits. Firstly, young minds are incredibly receptive to learning and absorbing new information, making it easier for them to grasp musical concepts. Secondly, early exposure to music can enhance cognitive development, improve academic performance, and foster creativity. Additionally, starting young allows students to develop good habits, such as practice routines and discipline, which are essential for mastering an instrument. Overall, beginning music tuition early sets a strong foundation for lifelong musical enjoyment and skill development.
We believe that:
- Students should be taught before they are being tested for band selection.
- Every student should be given the chance to explore and develop their talents and skills.
- Students should be trained not just for competitions.
- School concerts should not be a fundraising event but rather an opportunity for students to display their talents.
Our program is student centered and focused on resolving these issues.

Learning music in a group setting offers several benefits:
- Social Interaction: Group music lessons provide opportunities for students to interact with peers who share similar interests, fostering friendships and a sense of community.
- Collaboration Skills: Collaborating with others in a musical ensemble teaches teamwork, cooperation, and communication skills, essential for ensemble performance.
- Motivation and Accountability: Being part of a group encourages students to stay motivated and accountable as they strive to keep pace with their peers and contribute to the collective effort.
- Listening Skills: Group music activities help develop active listening skills as students learn to blend their sound with others, adjust dynamics, and maintain balance within the ensemble.
- Performance Opportunities: Group settings offer regular performance opportunities, allowing students to showcase their skills and gain confidence in front of an audience.
- Diverse Perspectives: Interacting with peers from diverse backgrounds exposes students to different musical styles, techniques, and interpretations, broadening their musical horizons.
Overall, learning music in a group setting enhances not only musical proficiency but also social, emotional, and cognitive development.
